Tibet Shoppe was first established 19 years ago on Queen Street West to support the work of preserving and promoting our unique Tibetan culture and traditions. Over the years, the store has developed a unique presence in Canada, and indeed in North America, specialising solely in traditional, high quality Tibetan home furnishings and accessories.
We carry a wide selection of items ranging from traditional Tibetan rugs, rare, original antique Tibetan furniture and decorative artifacts, Buddhist ritual instruments, HANDSTITCHED bedroom collections and cushion covers as well as traditional jewelry, clothing and books. All of our products are genuine works of art by Tibetans.
In particular, we are proud to carry a very specialised and exquisite line of high end traditional products called the “Norling Collection” made by Tibet’s most gifted artists and their apprentices. These items are produced in a very special and unique environment at the Norbulingka Institution in Dharamsala, India, established under the chairmanship of H.Holiness the Dalai Lama for the preservation of Tibetan culture. The Institute’s Centre for Arts is the only institution that combines training in the arts with the production of high quality art objects. The skills preserved and passed on at Norlingka include applique, woodcarving, tailoring and metal craft besides statue making and thangka painting. This project is a source of employment for refugees newly arrived from Tibet.
We invite you to explore Tibet Shoppe and bring a little of Tibet into any or every aspect of your life!
