In Tibet, tigers were a symbol of might and courage, a sign of power, spiritual or temporal. Since the need for Tiger paraphernalia exceeded the existing number of available pelts, tiger carpets and saddle rugs made their appearance. There, fantasy took over and Tigers could be flayed or alive…and very stylized.
